I have an '05 SE OR. I discovered a spot on my hood where the paint has somehow
gotten eaten away by something all the way to the metal. It's not a paint chip; you can
tell by the spidering of the paint around the damage. My question is how likely is the
dealer to cover this under warranty; has anyone else had success with the dealer covering this kind of thing? I've had the car less than a year. I checked the warranty booklet; it says that acid rain, paint chips, etc are not covered, however there is really no evidence that this was environmentally caused. It could well be a defect in the paint (which appears to be tissue paper thin. Compared to the paint quality on my BMW, Nissan's is a joke).

A paint problem would be with a section of the car, because the sections are painted together.

Sounds like a chemical drip, or something like that. But anyhow, you need to ask the dealer about warranty work.
