Child seats in 2001 Pathfinder?

Hi all -

I'm new and a prospective Pathfinder owner. I'm wanting to upgrade from a '94 Mazda 626 because 1) it is dying a slow, painful death, and 2) we're expecting a 3rd child in December and need more room!

So on to my question. Any idea if 3 child seats will fit across the back seat -- a booster (6-yr-old), a forward-facing (2-yr-old), and an infant seat? I found a sweet deal on a 2001 Pathfinder, but the child seat issue is going to be the deal-breaker, and I haven't had a chance to get to the dealer to see the truck yet for myself.

I don't know much about the Pathfinder other than what I've read at the review sites, so I'd appreciate any other information/advice anyone has to offer.

Thanks,

3 kid seats will fit across the back depending on what seats you get. We have done this when we need to move friends around and it is tight. If I had 3 kids I would not get a Pathfinder to be the primary kid mover.

American seats (grayco) are wider than the European (britax and peg perego). You will need to put something under the inside edge of both outside seats to allow them to sit on the edge of the back seat (which is higher than the part you are building up). A pool noodle cut in half and then taped side by side works for us.

The biggest issue will be getting the seat belt clicked for the 6 year old. It will be deep down between the kid seats. I would also worry about the seat being 3" closer to the door in a side impact collision.

Thanks for the information! We went Saturday to look at a Pathfinder (they had already sold the one I was looking at), and it confirmed what you are saying. The 3 seats would fit, but it's a tight squeeze, and it would be nearly impossible to strap and buckle the 6-year-old in.

Thanks for your help!
