Wobble on 96 Pathfinder, 2WD, V6, 180k

I recently started looking after this truck for a neighbor. 10 years and 180k, the to-do list is long. Noticed backing out of the driveway that the truck flops back and forth like a fish. I initially thought shocks and struts, (which probably need replacing anyway). After searching this forum it sounds like the rear axle bushings may be the culprit. Looks like this can be a beast of a job. I think I have the necessary tools to cut the old bushings out. Getting them back in may be the problem. Two questions 1) What is the best way to test if these bushings are indeed bad? 2) Has anyone tried placing the new bushings in the freezer over night to shrink them a bit before trying to press them in?

I have do them already 3 days ago not a bad job very easy. What you want to do first is what the dealership does. You cannot replace the bushing unless you have a press so you purchase the Trailer arm which have bushing in it already . The cost from the dealer is 132.00 each one some pathy drivers side is longer the passenger remove the bolts (2) Front and rear with a 17 mm wrench and a socket hat I think is 20 mm not sure but make sure you heat the nut up for 40 sec to help loosen everything and they will come out also to be bale to take the bolt out after you loosen it you will have to take off the bracket that holds the rear steering link for access reason also take off the tires. IF you have any more questions email me at jayvette75@yahoo.com and we can talk over the phone.
