Removing Roofrack - 01 pathy

I want to take the factory roofrack off my 2001 Pathfinder SE 4x4 - has anyone out there tried this? Any help would be appreciated...

this is my hazy recollection from the one time I looked at doing it:
take the slats off-- easy they just unscrew
take the larger cross bars off-- they have a cover,and a torx screw, then have to push them forward to slide them out
I thnk then you'll just need the pieces to cover the channels.
