Lightbulb Fuel Filter 2001 Pathfinder SE

Got a computer reading that states that I need to replace my fuel filter. Is this a difficult job or can I do it myself without hurting my fuel system? Where is the fuel filter located and how do I proceed to change it?
Thanks.

Its pretty easy to do yourself. It is right above the rear axle on the driver's side. Make sure you open your gas cap to keep the gas pressure down. You will still probably drop some gas, but not too bad.

Nice web page by the way, I'm looking for a bush guard like yours, where is a good place to get them?

What computer reading did you get? The manual says change the filter "when the vehicle speed can not be increased as the driver wishes". I love that line.

In addition to tank pressure you need to release any pressure in the fuel line. Start the truck and pull the fuel pump fuse. This will release pressure from the line to the injectors and the engine will stall.

Good catch smassey. I forgot about that part. I actually removed the fuse then turned the engine over a few times to get the same result.

avalanche - I got my brushguard second hand from someone on NPORA. Mine is a Manik, which uses a little bigger diameter tubing than other manufacturers. It would still be worthless in a frontend collision, and you lose a little on your approach angle, but I like the look.
