05 Pathfinder auto start

Does anybody know if Nissan has a remote start feature on the alarm that I can add on at the dealer? If not, how does an aftermarket alarm override the Nissan alarm?

Yes I had it installed at the dealer when I bought it. I dont know the name of the unit but it works well. You just have to use one key (the valet key) to be put under the dash in the remote unit. Once its installed you hit LOCK/UNLOCK/LOCK on the key fob and the car starts and the doors are locked. Hope this helps....enjoy

If you don't mind me asking, how much extra did you pay?

I was at a dealer today and he said they don't have it anymore. The car was parked inside a garage and someone started the car with the remote by accident and the small family died in the house of carbon minoxide poisoning. He didn't say where it happened.

understandable seeing as though the buttons on these keys stick out so damn much... Ive hit the panic button twice by accident, in my 2 months with this car... NEVER have i hit any key by accident (atleast the panic key) on my other cars since i started driving.

Tragic story.....but how do you hit Lock/unlock/lock by accident? Unless a child got hold of the keys. Any stero installation center can install it.

Someone had the keys in the back pocket and sat on it while watching TV.

He also mentioned the family members of the deceased sued Ford Motor Company, the maker of the auto starter, for $15 million and won. Sooo, the dealer I went to will not install or supply auto starters so they can't be sued for deaths like that.

WOW....Thats rare for something like that to happen. I can see why they would refuse. If you really want the auto start (which I highly suggest) I would just go to your local audio/video installation center, I believe Best Buy also installs them, and have it done. I had one in my 1996 4-runner and my wife had it in her 98 eclipse, then in her 04 maxima and again in her current 05 MDX. It is realativly cheep, and worth a millon bucks. Nothing like getting into a warm car in the winter and a cold car in the summer heat. Good luck.

A $30 carbon monoxide detector could have easily prevented that situation, everyone should have at least one in the house.

I'll second that. People in this country need to stop dishing out the blame on everyone else but themselves and take responsibility for there own stupidity. If you have a garage under your house, you better have a CO detector. I DO. Actually I thought everyone had at least 1 by now? Sorry for the rant but I had to get that out after reading that.

is that for houses built after today, or does everyone need them. There are fire alarm laws here that state one in every room, however, that didnt take affect until the 90s, my house was built in 88, which required one on each floor... we werent REQUIRED to add fire alarms, but it was recommended when we bought it last year...

For public housing they must be installed by today, for private housing, they must be installed before the house or rental changes hands.
