Hello there...I just have a simple for you guys...I usually do all my regular tune ups, but pretty much the only thing i haven't done on my 95 Pathy is change the rear diff. oil...Is this just a simple drain plug removal, fill up procedure? Is there anything special i need to do, cleaning, flusing.???..Cleaning parts.? Or just drain and fill?..THANX.!
Also, what about the front diff oil.? Same.?...Whats a good oil for the two..
P.S.---My Pathy has the Nissan Limited Slip, Locking, Rear Diff in it..IT"S AWESOME..!!.

Yes, the rear is quite easy, drain and refill. If you have a lsd rear, you need to add a fluid called friction modifier or your rear will feel clunky in stop and go situations. I used the GM version and seems to work well, its like 8 oz. and cost @ $10. The front diff can be pain to fill, so I left mine alone. I hardly use it. good luck
hi guys, just wondering when are you suppose to change your rear diff? my pathy has 154k v6 3.3L. according to the person that i bought the SUV from, he change it? is there anyway to check whether it has been change or not? i mean for engine oil you could pretty much check by pulling the dip stick out and if it's black its time to change. as you know my transfer case is a little damp on the outside edges, i was going to have my son perhaps just change the all the fluids, the front and rear diff. and transfer case. didnt mean to hijack the thread. thanks guys.
Limited Slip Differential...Simply means you won't spin out when others are.!.!..lol....
It does require a special additive because of the clutches and such in the rear end..
Should say in the owners manual...if not, jack it up in the rear...If both tires spin the same direction...It's most likely LSD..If one tire spins one way and the other rear tire spins the opposite direction..It's not LSD...
Most Rear gear oils say whether or not an extra additive is needed..just do some looking and buy a good oil...Lucas Rocks..my opp..
Peace
