Maintenance Service Kit? anyone

the last time I did my first oil change at the dealer, they offered me this "Maintenance Service Kit".
I asked what it was and how much. the person told me it would be poured down into the gas and it will help the engine, etc.
cost around $20 something.
but, really what is it? just another thing for the thing to sell thats useless?
just wondering.

Sounds like BG44k. My dealer used it when they did an oil change on my 01. Good stuff and worth the $20. I use it every year or two. Every oil change may be excessive.

I used a bottle of that in my old hardbody, actually helped it a good bit. Not sure what it would do for a newer engine, maybe "preventative".

The guys on Car Talk recommend it too, if that means anything.

I would say if you use good gasoline, and not the super economy stuff every time... then your engine will be fine. But its your $20 and only my 2 cents.
