Question 01 Pathfinder SES Light

So, I've had my Pathy for about 2 months now and do love it. My SES light turned on a couple of days ago... This took the wind out of me. I hate that stinking SES light. I sold my last car because the SES light was always on and this Upstate NY snow was too much for the Accord.

So the codes are the following:
p0430 - CAT efficiency level below threshold
p0325 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction

The Pathy is a 2001 SE with 68k miles. I know that some vehicle manufacturers have extended warranties for the CAT's does anyone know what Nissan's is. My previous car, a 98 Accord had a warranty on the CAT of 8 years 80k miles. Any help would be greatly appreciate it. I'm really hoping these two things are covered under the 6k mile warranty when I bought the truck.

By the way, this is a great forum.

And so it begins... You might want to get used to the SES light syndrome, cuz its not going to go away. Mine has been on, (01 QX4) for a variety of faults, ever since I bought this thing 2 years ago. Buy a cheap scanner,($38.00 Ebay) and keep resetting it yourself, or build up your bank account so you can contribute to your Nissan dealer's retirement fund. These are the most unreliable vehicles around.
Recent quote from Consumer Reports: "Not all Japanese manufacturers did so well, however. Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, dropped from eighth place last year down to 28th place in Consumer Reports' reliability rankings this year. The Infiniti QX45 was the most unreliable vehicle among all new cars."

This news is really disappointing, as these were touted as "most reliable" when they first came out.

What is a QX45? Do you mean QX56? If so that truck is made in the USA and not Japan like the 2004 and older PFs. No offense to the owners of 05 and up but the trucks made in Japan are always built better.

Check that same consumer reports for used cars ratings and you should see that the 01 pathfinder is a "recommended model".

Yup, that's why I decided to buy my '01. Unfortunately, with never-ending reliability issues, such as ignition coils,($$$) O2 sensors,($$) cam sensors,($$) Bose failures, etc, etc($$$) it looks like maybe Consumers Reports didn't really do the research that they should have. There's no excuse in this day and age for a manufacturer to produce such an unreliable vehicle. One really needs deep pockets to keep one of these things. Too bad, because they really are nice vehicles, otherwise.
And yes, I'm a little bitter. I got stung bad with this thing.

I have a 2001 with 80,000 miles on it. My SES light has been on twice. Once was O2 sensor and other was cam sensor. Lucky I have a good mechanic that has fixed these alot cheaper than the dealer. If you take it to the dealer they charge just to put it on the computer then you have to pay a good amount to have it fixed. That being said my Pathfinder is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I used to have a 1990 Chevy S-10. It had a transmision leak, oil leaks, and lots of annoying rattles. You were scared to look under the truck because sooner or later something would be leaking. I would much rater have a SES light come on occasionly rather than that.

Well, I have only had the Pathy for 2 months. So far, I think its a great vehicle. I wound up taking the pathy to the dealer since I do have a 6month 6k miles warranty. It turns out nothing was wrong or so they say.

Nissan said the Knock Sensor is pretty much part of having a a Nissan and they always come up. The CAT they said just needed tweaking, whatever that meant. Point of the matter is that the vehicle continues as always to run strong and I could not be happier. I expect this vehicle to give me above and beyond the 150k mile mark.

Had to add something... Just checked ConsumerReports for the fun of it since I have an account.

The QX4 does not have any reviews prior to 04. The Nissan is raved about in ConsumerReports. The only thing that is Average is the Exhaust. Everything else is highly regarded.
