If they can't replicate the problem while they have the vehicle, it will be extremely difficult to fix. They can't just take a shotgun approach to replacing parts with no symptoms (Nissan has to approve parts for warranty repairs, anyway), and their only other option would be to keep the vehicle for a while and see if they can replicate the problem, which doesn't sit well with most people.

You're doing the right thing by trying to gather more information. I actually diagnosed a problem on my last vehicle and gave the dealer all the information they needed to fix the problem when they couldn't figure it out.

Best of luck!
Thanks for the note. I understand the difficulty in troubleshooting electrical problems and the fact that Nissan must approve parts first. Their hands are tied and I feel like my new pathfinder should work perfectly. In the grand scheme of things I am being pretty petty....It is just when you trade in a Lexus that works perfectly these little things are a bit annoying. At least the pathfinder can tow my boat...

Problem Fixed - The dealer (second one) replaced the antenna (not sure part name) for the Key FOB and the problem is solved. They actually had to pull the whole dash off to replace this. I am a happy Nissan owner again as Nissan Corp covered it plus the rental. Thanks to all for the helpful posts.

to swap from unlock drivers door only to all dorrs:-
turn ign off
within 20 seconds press lock and unlock buttons for 4 seconds.

same applies the other way round.

btw - if you didnt know - if you have auto lights, turn ign off, flick 'flash' or 'pass' light briefly - low beam stays on for 30 seconds, showing you the way to your door or whatever...
