I don't know about the pre-wired harness. In some cases, there is a plug in the harness itself that can be unpluged and a "T" plug put in place to split off to the wiring harness. Very easy if it is there, but....
On our '92, the wiring connections are made inside the vehicle. There are plastic access panels on the insides of the rear cargo area - just inside the hatch. The wiring is all accessible at this point. Just locate the wires that carry the signals for taillights, brakes, signals and reverse (if required) and splice into them - simple as that. You may also find a plug in there, who knows.
To find out which wires do what (if you don't have a diagram), simply get a 12v circuit tester, and sharpen the tip, good and pointy. Now connect the aligator clip to a good ground and spike through the wire insulation looking for a signal - - i.e. turn on the headlights and then look for a wire with a positive signal, lighting the tester. Just make sure the signal goes off when the lights do. Now do the same with the brake pedal depressed, signal lights on, etc. Should be pretty straight forward.
Have fun and keep asking if you're not sure.
