88 pathy fuel problem

My 88 pathy as of late seems to be starving for gas and or running very rough when the tank starts dipping below 1/4 my first instinct would be the fuel pump getting weak since i think this is the original pump second is oe the best bet as far as a replacement?

I recently replaced my fuel pump and I found a company that salavages fuel pumps out of scrapped vehicles. He gauranteed the pump for 2 year and even altered the wiring to be better (the reason my failed). I paid a quarter of the price of a new one.

I replaced my pump a couple of months ago myself. I decided to spend the extra $40 to get a genuine Nissan pump. I don't usually buy dealer parts unless I have to, but in this case, I decided to. I just figured that the work involved in the replacing of the pump was significant enough that I didn't want to do it again any time soon. Plus, the original Nissan pump had worked well (and quietly) for many years, so I tought I'd stick with the "better quality" part.

Just my thoughts.

This was a local guy in Toronto. I had to drive 2 hours to get it, but it was well worth it. I kept the old fuel pump since I know a few guys that can repair them. I would call around and ask, ask some local shops if they know of anyone as well.

One thing to mention, when I replaced the pump it didn't come with a float. I put the float off my old on it and it fit fine. But I have noticed that for some reason when my gauge says empty, I still have a fair bit if fuel left in the tank. Say, 15 litres.

Same problem

I have a '94 pathfinder. I replaced my plugs and they had a lot of black soot. Not oily though. I have lots of black soot coming from tailpipe. Maybe the airflow meter? Any help?

Sorry, no suggestions for you other than to recommend you start a new thread with your issue. That way you're more likely to get specific answers.

Just a thought...
