Short In A Wire Or A Fuse Going Dead?

Howdy!

I have a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder, and it has been acting very buggy as of late.

Sometimes when I use the Wireless Key Entry, I hear a clicking noise under the dashboard and then when I try to lock my car doors, once again using the Wireless Entry, the doors lock for all of five seconds before they unlock and the dome light inside turns on.

I will sometimes sit for five minutes or more just trying to lock my car door playing this lock-unlock game.

Also, when the car is on, whether I am driving or parked, the Highbeam light on the Dashboard comes on, even though the High Beams are not on. This sometimes causes the driver side front light to go out. If I flip the High Beams on for a few seconds and then turn them off, the High Beam light goes off and everything returns to normal.

I called a local Nissan Dealer and they said that it will be $96.00 to inspect the car. I would kick myself if I paid that just to find out it was a fuse or something that I could have handled myself.

If anyone has any experience with this sort of problem, I would greatly appreciate any help that you could give.

God Bless,
Andrew G.

Try replacing the KEYFOB battery and your headlight relay.

relay can be the answer. or it is the switch to turn on the headlights.

Howdy!

I have tried replacing the KEYFOB and the problem still persists.

How do I go about checking/replacing the switch or relay?

God Bless,
Andrew G.

relay is probably placed under hood. there are black boxes which hold relays and some fuses.
