Lift

Hello,

A few years ago I bought a 2000 p-finder and is now needing a fresh set of tires. My wife who is now the primary driver has requested that we give it some new wheels and tires in the process giving it the moster truck look. So, I've looked around the net for lift kits and have had no luck. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks

DC

As far as body lift kits go...when nissan redesigned the pathy in '96, they made it a unibody aka not able to do body lift because the frame and body are all one piece. You should have luck with suspension lifts though.

Yes. I took a look at the links provided by charlie_one. Didn't really seem worth the money for a mere 1.75"-2.00" lift. Well, let me ask, is 2" more than it seems?

Nope 2" is 2".

But it does seem like more when you say 5.08 centimeters.

Yes, 2" is more than it seems. Especially when their 2" lift gave me 4" to begin with (before springs settled a little) and ended up with about 3" of lift. This allowed me to add tires that were almost 2" taller than the stock tires on my 2001, essentially another 1" of lift there. You're still not going to have a "monster truck", but it is quite a difference from the stock height of the Pathfinder.

Okay now the real question..... Doesn't that play havoc on your CV joints? Those are pretty extreme angles for CV shafts.....

Anyone with a daily driver ( 18,000 miles plus a year ) have luck with this?

No problem with mine yet. I've got over 20,000 miles on since installing the lift the end of January 2005.

Ok. Thanks. One more thing though, how much larger of a tire will I be able to go with? Right now I have the BF 31's on my frontier and it looks cooler than stock. Will I be able to also use that tire on the pfinder. Also, because the tires are larger and heavier I'm assuming this will put added stress on the engine and transmission. So, should I be concerned about additional mechanical problems?

Thumbs up

I am running BF 31's on my 95 and there is no problem with it, I cannot see any reason your 2000 would have a problem.

You probably have 16" rims on your Pathfinder, and usually if the tires say they are 31's it will be for a 15" rim instead of 16". The 16" rim's tires are "usually" in metric sizes. With the 2" lift from 4x4parts.com, I have 265/75 R16 tires, which is about a 32" tall, 10.5" wide tire. I have no rubbing issues in the back, but had to do some plastic trimming in the front to keep them from rubbing. You should be fine with 31's. If you do get new rims and decide to get 15" rims instead, you may have some issues with the wheel rubbing on the brake caliper. I've read of some people with this combination having that problem, but others have said they had no problem with 15's.

I put the full Rancho lift kit on my '01 LE six months ago along with 265/70 R16's. I do not have any rubbing or CV issues. The lift was the secondary reason for replacing the suspension. The main reason was due to how AWFUL the back end was with 4 people in the truck. That is the main reason I went with the RS9000X Rancho suspension, the shocks in the rear are adjustable so that I can tune it for what I am doing.
