Like the title says I own a European version of the Pathfinder, called a Terrano I. It is basically the same as the American version apart from the engine and some minor details.
I'm Portuguese, and live on the Azores Islands.
My main question regards the back door and back window gas lifters (?). I dont really know what is the English technicall term for it, In Portuguese they go by the same name as the shock absorbers, so I'll describe them: - the things that lift and hold up the back door and the back window, 2 per each, 4 in total.
Mine no longer perform their function well, and the new ones, Nissan says will cost me around US$1.200, wich is, by my standarts, way too expensive. I've looked for options but few Pathfinders/Terrano I were sold in Europe so there aren't any afermarket ones. Can you tell me if there are such reasonably priced parts in America?

Don't purchase the genuing Nissan parts...purchase an after-market replacement part. Do you have any local auto parts stores where you can ask for replacement pneumatic rear window lifts? Alot of times, they come in standard sizes that are universal.
My 1998 Nissan Maxima had pneumatic hood lifts that both went out. I bought replacement pneumatic lifters at a local auto parts store for US $20 each.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply thrbek, Like I said, I already searched in the local (Island and mainland Portugal) after-market auto-parts shops and came up empty handed. Maybe it's because, hence few "Terranos I" were sold, they just aren't listed. Maybe even they have equivalent parts and they don't show in the catalogues as compatible with this model.
Do you know of any models that have similar "pneumatic lifters", back door and/or rear window?
Any one who now what the pressure the door and the window lifters have ¿¿
The lenght shouldn be a problem to find from anothe car type, but if you mount one with the wrong pressure, you maybe never could close the damn thing agine
