90 pathfinder tranny trouble

my rig is very sluggish about taking off, usually moving at around 2000 rpm.when driving down the road it runs a little over 3000 at 55mph.when i let off the gas it drops to 1500 , but does not engage when i hit the gas till around 3000. I really think its not going in overdrive.shoud'nt it cruze around 1500 rpm.I have heard about some silinoids around the transmission filter. Could that be the problem ? any ideas? please help.

Have a qualified transmission specialist take a look at it right away. To total fluid exchange transmission fluid flush may fix your problem...but don't delay. Driving it with nasty burned tranny fluid could ruin your tranny....then you'd be looking at a rebuild or replacement. BIG BUCKS

Good luck.

A Total Fluid Exchange should be around $75-150 US depending on the dealer. Simply draining the fluid and replacing the filter won't cut it...get a total fluid flush.

just a note make sure the flush machine uses an external pump (the tranny) to flush and not an internal (inside the machine) because it may use too much pressure and damage the seals in the tranny.
