The transmission filter on your pathfinder is a fine mesh screen, Nissan does not recommend changing it.

Question

Thanx!!

I am going to let local mechanic flush my trans (dealer asked for $160 to do this).

So, do I need to tell mechanic not to change it? And by the way, how can they clean the filter?

Oh, I forgot to ask another question. The "T-tech" machine is the only safe one not damaging interior sealing?

It's not the only one, just seems to be the most common. Mainly you just want one that does not use an external pump that can overrun the trany. The best way to prevent that is by using a system that relies on the transmissions own pressure.

The screen really doesn't need to be cleaned, nothing sticks to it. I was skeptical so I dropped my transmission pan after 90k miles which included towing a heavy boat and the screen was completely clean with very little fuzz on the magnet.

Those screen were ment to catch a large part so it doesn't get sucked back in to destroy the whole transmission.
