Original shocks and struts????109000k?

Just purchased 97 pathy le 109000..original owner and all records..He swears original shocks and struts..Records reflect same..Seems smooth and comftorable at all speeds ,but read about how these pathys eat shocks and stuts..am i missing the boat??Could the ride be any "better"??What kind replacement rear shocks and front stuts are reccomendated??Wheres the best$.. Thanks Andy

I changed mine ('92) after 10 years, they weren't awful, but the Ranchos I replaced them with really tightened the handling. As for which shocks are best, it depends on how you want it to ride. I like a stiff suspension and Rancho shocks will give you that.

I've had my '97 pathfinder since new and have never replaced either the schocks or the struts and the ride hasn't differed from day one. At this point I see no reason to replace them and will continue to drive it as is.

Oh by the way, mine is approaching the 180,000 k mark.

That amazes me!..Before i got to this fourm i was reading some reviews (Edmunds??) and i would swear every pathy broke and ate shocks..Thanks guys..

Seems to me there were some issues with the struts on the first few years of the '96-'04 Pathfinder.

Our '91 is a completely different construction, but at 206,000km, it still has the original electronic adjustable shocks. A good thing they're durable, because they cost a fortune to replace.
