strange bird like whine from the engine on my '05 Pathfinder...

I have a 2005 pathfinder 4x2 and there is a high pitched whine which appears to be from a belt or something spinning on the motor. The main problem is the noise doesn't happen all the times the motor is on. It's pretty loud and is kinda embarrassing. Please help.

Take it back to the Dealer for diagnosis. The problem could be a dry bearing on the alternator or A/C compressor. You'll need to have a mechanic listen to it to figure it out.

Your question to us is equivalent to, "I have a weed growing in my back yard. Can anyone tell me what it is?"

My answer would be, "...Well, let me see it and maybe I can tell you."

Let the mechanic take a look. He'll figure it out for you.

Good luck.
