PAC-NIS

Ok here is a dumb question,

I have been looking at getting the pac-nis adapter and have read all the threads on Frontier/Pathy here and on the xterra board since we all have the same head unit with different speakers and amps.

My simple question is why can't we just splice the IPOD into the rear audio that is used for the factory DVD system. To my understanding the wires are already partially run and stop somewhere near the brake pedal.

Has anyone tried this. Trying to avoid having two sets of RCA's somewhere and would like to just have one cable to charge and send music. To bad we can't use the ipod2car unit that uses the cd controls.

thanks,

I was thinking the same thing. I will be getting my 06 tomorrow night. I am going to check another on at the dealer to see how the dvd is wired up.

I could not really see much at the dealer. There has to be a way to do this. If you push the rear av button on the stereo "no dvd" comes up on the screen. I will be researching this. I would rather use this input and leave the satelite radio input available so I can add it later. I also do not like the idea of the pac-nis adaptor since the volume is low with this adaptor.

That plug by the parking brake pedal is for the pre-wire satellite. The Pac has two input so you can use one for sat (not having to use FM modulation) and the other for an MP3 player (again not using FM modulation). Mine stow away in the little compartment next to the shift lever in the center counsel (05 SE-OR) with my Sirius controller.
