2005 Pathfinder A/C compressor

I have a 2005 Pathfinder SE. The A/C compressor never stops working unless I turn the the system off by using the fan speed selector. Even if "A/C Off " is on the display and the air is blowing out of the floor vents, the air compressor still cycles. Is this considered normal operation?

Sounds like the switch is shorted, the compressor should not run continuously. Depending on your mileage it will be covered by the warranty. Most newer vehicles will have 1 mode were the compressor does not come on (vent usually). All the other modes it will be on including defrost.

Weird...I'll need to check mine now. I usually leave my system set on "Auto"...and sometimes shut off the AC when I remember to...

One thing that kind of irritates me is that, because of severe drought in my state, I like to drive around with recycle inside air turned on in order to avoid the massive dust accumulation on the inside of my vehicle. Every time I turn the vehicle off, the thing defaults back to outside air. VERY irritating. I can save my seat settings with memory, but my dumb environmental system won't save its settings. ;(

Your Pathfinder has a Air Filer for the cabin, located behind the lower glove box, so you air is always filtered and cleaned.

If you select A/C OFF it should remember that setting. And the AC does not come on, unless the humidity gets high in the cabin.

BTW it's a good thing for the AC to kick in a little bit, to keep the oil in the pump.
