Day Time Running Lights

Picked up an 06 pathfinder LE last weekend. There appears to be a device in the center of the dash board that detect day light. When it does, my head lights turn on. The problem is that I would like my headlights on as soon as I turn on the ignition (Day Time Running Lights). Does anyone have any ideas short of covering the module with tape?

can't you just turn them on manually.
only takes a small twist.

but yea, tape could work

When it comes to day time running lights. What is the primary differnce between US models and Cananda? ( I hear Canada model have 24/7 day time running lghts) Is there a module I can purchase from Canada, that would give me 24/7 running lights?
