O-2 Sensors

'97 Pathfinder: I was going to change the two lower sensors (CEL) and was able to remove the old. But when I did, I see that the threads on the sensors are about wiped out. The female threads in the pipe look bad, as well. I'm hoping that its just the male threads in there clogging them up, and they can be cleaned out. But I did not have a tap to run in there. I did not want to attempt to run the new sensors in and foul up their threads - too much $$$!!Advice???

I think you just screwed your pipe. Get a brush and clean out the threads on the pipe and see if it's still good. If not, not much you can do now except maybe reinstall the sensor and drive it to a muffler shop and get them to cut out the pipe section with the damaged threads.

Did you lube it up generously with WD-40? Did you tighten and and loosen sensor during the removal stage? Tightening and loosening removes some of the rust and built up carbon on the sensor and threads.
