I got an estimate for $800 for a mass air flow sensor (and installation) for a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder SE that I recently purchased. Does that sound about right? Thanks
lol i just posted pretty much the same problem. I got quoted $600, which is rip off anyway. $800 is downright obserd. I'm trying to find a replacement online, but so far no luck. They probably trying to charge you more because you have a VQ35.

Do it yourself, the labor for them to do it is probably ridiculous. It's probably only like 4 bolts, a hose clamp, and a plug anyway. Do it yourself, save some money, sounds good.
is autopart.com a reputable site? I found one there for $129 plus $70 core. I Don't know much about cars but isn't it that thing that your airbox/intake is attached to? That would be easy to change.

Yes, that's it. That's why I was saying do it yourself.

Do the labor yourself. If you can find just the sensor, 2 or 3 screws and you're done.
A new MAF lists for $488.19 and goes for over $100 less on nearly every site I've checked (not sure if this is just the sensor or the whole assembly).

That's crazy. I bought a used MAF sensor from the pathfinder for my VE from www.car-parts.com, cost me $50 + shipping. Took 10 minutes to put it on. It works perfectly.
