steering stops
I have a 90 Pathfinder SE V6 4x4.
I'm curious about the 2 steering stops (or whatever they're called) that are on each knuckle up front. There's one for left and one for right turn on each knuckle, and they're like rounded bolt heads that scrape up and down a curved stop when the suspension moves. If I turn my steering wheel so that it's near the stops, as in when I'm parking, every little bump is met with a loud grinding noise. Scary till I figured out what it was.
Is there a way to get rid of that sound? I probably don't want to just remove them, as I'm guessing it keeps the steering stuff from getting damaged when a rock or curb pushes my wheel in. Hmm, maybe I should try putting a dab of grease there to lessen it? Any suggestions?
Thx in advance.
