I want to install a Pioneer AVH-5700DVD HU with Sirius into my truck.
What do I need to do about the Bose system? I plan on getting the
harness from crutchfield, but I also want to use the PAC SW1x to use
my steering wheel controls, and get Pioneer's Ipod interface. I have
never installed a car stereo before. The harness seems to make it
easy, I just want to make sure about compatibility. I have the RDS radio
with cassette and 6cd changer.

First off the BOSE is a POS! Went to a high end stereo shop and they just laughed at me when I asked them what they can do to make it sound better. The answer was start from scratch. The whole sytem was going to have to be replaced, which I'm told is a problem since the head unit and the vehicle computer somehow work together. The owner told me that he would not waste my money nor his time unless it was done right. When I saw the bill I decided to buy a new KRELL amp instead of spending the money on the Nissan.

Now I have read of people who find ways around the BOSE system and purchase bypass kits or adapters to use after market speakers with good results, to them I guess. For me I was looking for something much more clean and of higher quality. Do a search and you should find something. Good luck.
