Money, Money, Money
A used or rebuilt trany could cost you anywhere from $600-$1300. Are you planning on swapping it out yourself? If not, maybe the person swapping it will know the best place to find a good replacement. I looked online and found several sites that will e-mail you a quote. If a rebuild shop dyno tests the trany before shipping, you are sure to get a working rebuild. There is always a chance of something going wrong with a used or rebuilt trany.
Have you considered seeing how much it would be if you took your tranny out and gave it to someone to rebuild. It may be cheaper if the parts that need to be replaced don't add up to too much (clutch and band rebuild kit?). You may be able to find a local trany mechanic that will rebuild it for a couple hundred plus parts. It would be nice to open your trany and only find that you need $100 worth of parts, but then again, you never know, the parts that you need could add up to $1200 or more!
