To Part or Not? That is the question.

I have a 1992 Pathfinder that I got into a wreck with. The front end is pushed in. Damage was estimated at more than the car is worth so I bought another one.

The question remains as to what to do with the 1992 that's busted.

My options:
1. Donate it. $500 right off.
2. Sell it all at once to a salvage yard. ????
3. Part it out myself. ???

So I want to gage interest in the parts I have available and see if its worthwhile. The last thing I want to do is part it out halfway to the point where I can't get rid of the rest of it. If people are interested in parts let me know what parts you're interested and ballpark you were thinking of paying. I want to be fair...depending on how many responses I get will determine if I part it or not.

What you need to know: everything on the car works. It still will even start up and run. Radiator is punched in. Front end body is damanged. Fenders and are damaged. Interior, frame, and engine are in good shape. Wheels are good shape.

Thanks

I believe a salvage yard will give you around $500 complete, probably not much less without some parts.
How many miles on the engine?
2wd or 4wd?
Auto or manual?
XE or SE (was available then)?
Where are you located (for estimatining shipping costs)?

I think that you can get more than $500 by parting out but this can be time consuming and a hassle. I have seen other part out threads on this forum and alot of people are looking for odd parts, myself included. I would be interested in front seats, sunvisors, floor mats, and several other items. This depends on condition and color etc. Let us know if you do part out though. good luck

More info

My 1992 Pathfinder is an XE.

V6. 4WD. Automatic. Engine has 170K miles on it. Timing belt along with all other belts were just replaced.

Body is white.

Interior is light grey leather. Its in decent shape with some wear.

So sounds like there is some interest? I'm just trying to sort out if its a hassle or not.

I'm located in Beaverton Oregon (for those not familiar its a suburb of Portland)

Grey interior is just what I am looking for. So you have the leather seats? Condition? Would you be willing to ship? How about the sun visors? Are they in good shape? Do they stay in position? I am interested. If you could email pics of these items that would be great too.

I'd give ya $5 + shipping for the driver-side air vent, the one one to the left of the steering wheel. Mines busted.

$20 + shipping for the stereo and speakers.

I might be interested in the engine, but the cost of shipping "back east" may make it too pricey. You'll probably find someone local willing to buy it (would make more sense for the heavier "freight" items).

You wouldn't happen to have an external mount spare, would you?

(BTW, my engine is fine with only 142K, but considering rebuilding a drop-in with porting, cams, etc.)

I'd keep it and fix it myself if I had the dough. I live in Salem, by the way. *waves*
