If they ever call during dinner, I immediately ask him/her if I can ask a question before we start. They usually say yes because thy're happy that you haven't hung up on them yet. Then i'll say "What time does your family eat dinner?" Most will say somewhere around 6ish. And then I come in with the "OK, well let me have your home phone number and i'll call you back around then." shortly followed by a click. Ever since I started doing it i've noticed we get much less calls from telemarketers. I guess this plan is a little more bullet proof, thanks Zac!
Dickhead: "Hi, is this the man of the household?"
Me : "No, I'll go get it". *sets phone down on counter*
Then, I come back like ten minutes later and they've usually hung up by then. If they're still on the line, I tell them to fuck off and then I hang up.

I would say you're fucking yourself over more than anything, atleast they're getting paid. I guess they would lose out on commission though..
we had 5 adults at my house at one time, so we were recieving 4-5 calls per each person. that worked out to like 25 telemarketers a day...i sighned up for the do not call list, and NO telemarketers.
finally a government program that helps ME directly.
LOL I like to tell them about my problem with my penis amputation and my cannibalism problems, I used to be a telemarketer, anything to keep the person on the line, so you cna say anything and they'll stick around, its kinda more fun to me than not gettin the calls.
I signed up on the list about 3 months ago and its curbed them all, just as it has for everyone else here.
Back when we were getting them, I would always know it to be a telemarketer from that 1 second pause after saying hello. If I said hello and had to wait any length of time for a reply, the phone was on the hook before they could get the rest of their greeting out.

.......we are on this 'do not call list'. there is one company though. who has started calling at around 9pm. dont know who its is yet, as when you pick up the phone, there is a delay, and then a message saying something like please stay on the line, an assistant will be with you shortly. and then you wait 20 minutes and nothing happens. WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! so i cant do any pranks or anything, cause i have never talked to a person.........
