I love hockey too, but I didnt even know there was a strike till a month ago. Its kinda like how they take your favorite show off tv and substitute it and you just kinda lose track of whats going on.
And yes I somewhat care.

i care, and this is probably the death bell for hockey for the majority of americans. at least for a while. it was just gaining popularity...now. way to go, ya gready sonsofbitchs.
I thought they (union & owners) were going to come to an agreement last night, they kept throwing numbers back in forth as to what the salary cap should be. I think this is bad news for hockey in the U.S......not to popular to begin with, and now it will be hard to woo the fans back *if* they play next year. Look how long it took baseball to win its fans back after the 94' strike.....
I could care less if the whole league was gone, actually. I just wanna watch hockey. Make a new league for all I care. Plus I want to have more Canadian teams, instead of Canadian ones that got bought by US cities. Oh well.

So there is no Canadian Hockey League??? I thought there was one.....it would make sense though, since all I heard is how the NHL players were going to play in Europe for more money....
Well, as far as the NHL goes, yea, its sad. The only reason I watch is because Im a Mario Lemieux fan. And I really enjoy the EA NHL games. But we have a pretty good set of minor teams down here that keep us satisfied. And they get pretty good attendance too. I never expected a large turnout for hockey in the southeast, but I was wrong. Around here we have the Greenville Growl and the Charlotte Checkers. Ive seen them both play several times and they're pretty good.

Yeah... the thing about Canuckian hockey is that all the players go elsewhere, so our junior hockey leagues are basically as high-tier as it gets, and those usually aren't televised (until this year). Why play here when you can go play in Europe or for a team in the US for twice as much? The same thing happens to Russian players.

The owners might want to use replacement players AKA "scabs". I don't know how that will work out, since the owners won't change the price of tickets. Minor league talent while paying the price for professional players.....????
id rather watch minor leauge hockey. maybe no nhl will teach both side some shit. and hopefully mls will take nhls place.
