I was against this until my younger cousin Nick got an email linking him to a beastiality website...I'm all for regulations although I dont think it would be possible. Kinda a double edged sword though...no regulations and our privacy is being infringed; regulations and our freedoms could be said to be infringed. And how would it be regulated?
They are infringing upon our rights as consumers. Just as we are not required to watch television, we should not have spam overloading our email boxes. Some of it is also inappropraite as you mentioned. As for can it be done or not, it can. I think Utah already has many anti-spam laws enforced, as my dad currently has some law suits pending on the subject.
they control the internet. track down hackers, viruses, what have you. they would be the ones enacting the regulation, and they'd be damn good at it. my hacker friends have been pinned by them and prosecuted, one escaped*.
i think we definatly need some antispyware/virus legislation/regulation...its getting out of hand. i mean, when you computer doesn't work because its so loaded with spyare that it doesn't work anymore, and you need to call a techie(like me, i make housecalls) to fix it...its gone too far.
much of it is inappropriate(as you both said). people are held accountable for what they MAIL, so why not be held accountable for what you EMAIL? does regulation of the snail mail infringe on our rights? no...so that means regulation of email wont either.
* fun story: this guy found out that microsoft was going to prosecute him for piracy. so he crashed the iana, hacked micro$shaft's databases and delete anything related to him. the iana got back online in a half hour but he was already covering his trail. the iana searched for him for about a month, slowing the internet down to a crawl...i dont know if you guys remember the internet slow-down a few months back...but that's why if you were curious.
no no, he helped create it. and thats not a joke. the internet was originally created for use by the defense department in the cold war, al gore was the main guy in its conception and institution...but he doesn't control it anymore, iana does .
mine is all patriotic and what not(its actually the chorus from the battle cry of freedom)...and yours is all "dont let the system suck you in" and what not...not lol funny..but still funny.
spyware blows. i have had to fix more PC's here at work from that crap. jesus i ran ad-aware on this one womans pc and she had 50 files of tracking software. another womans pc crashed 3 hours after i imaged it..........it was a brand new comp
