I'm pretty sure it's about time americans get out of the middle east. As sad as it is to say, this guy was an easy target. It must be slightly easier for terrorists to kidnap americans within their own borders, then sneaking into the US.
Since terrorists use extremist action to bring attention to their political desires, simply acknowledging their existance and activities allow them to have the upper hand. By now, almost all Americans in the middle east (with the exception of troops) should be home, to prevent terrorists from conducting these activities without great hardship.
