Back Popping: Good or Not So Good....

Last night I asked my girl to pop my back and she said she wouldn't do it. Apparently she was afraid of hurting me or something. I have had my back popped numerous times in the past, but I haven't had it done in a while and the craving is very high. Can anybody tell me if back popping is dangerous or is it something that chiropractors like to tell people just so they can get business?

if you ask a chiropractor if you should do it, they will say no, but if your in pain, er something to do with the back, its the first thing they'll do, and charge ya $100 for it

it probly follows along the lines of people cracking their fingers or neck. who knows.

..........but i crack my neck, n most of the vertibrates in my back often...no pain yet.

my girlfriend walks on my back once a day, and I crack it once more with a chair. I crack everything in my body, it makes it feel better when it's stiff.

cool, it's nice to hear everybody's comments on this... my back still hurts though. I'm going print this discussion off and give it to 'ole girl so she has proof that 'everybody's doing it'

when i was younger my mom would have me walk on her back cause if she goes to the chiropracter (sp) then he wouldent push hard enough to do anything

after i get home from work, I have my girl walk on mine, about once a week, cause I work in a warehouse and after bouncing around on a forklift and lifting 100 pound boxes of frozen food crap for 12 14 hours a day Im all outa wack.

After words I feel great but then again I had my brother do it once and he steped wrong and I had a migrane for about 2 or 3 days.
Just depends if they know where to and how much pressure to apply.

But it is easy to screw up though mabye take a warm long bath before to loosen things up thats what I do

cracking joints causes bubbles in the synovial (sp) fluid [joint fluid] to pop. in some people as they get older that fluid thins causing joint pains. the cracking of joints has not been proven to be a cause of joint pains. you are advised not to crack your back and neck due to possible injure to discs and your spinal cord.

because there is a higher risk of injuring your back when someone else is trying to pop it than your own. you know how much pain you can take before something gets broken. it is safer for you to do it yourself than for someone to do it for you.

I agree with that, only if the other person doesnt really know what they are doing. When I used to go to the chiropractors(sp?), he would always crack my back and sometimes around my neck. It straightened out my back too.
