i used to feel this way but then i realized, its ALLOT more satisfing to say this is mine and i worked my ass off for it. i think i get more pride out of my work too, its look what I did to my car!! not, "look what mommy and daddy got me" I tell people i worked almost 80 hrs to make enough net pay to pay for my stromung exaust, and they just look at me like im crazy (some) and others look at me like i wish i could save that much (fellow tuners) and i did it all myself, and i take alittle pride in that. and no one i know respects mommy and daddy bought it for me as much as i ate rice and ramen noodles to get this!

Ha,
I always love it when I go into a tuner shop and buy a part and then request that it 'not' be installed. That I do it myself. Always there is a hesitation at the guy over the counter, since most of his business comes from people who pay to have them fix up the car. Its a rarity to see a customer actually do the work themselves. You get a little respect.
Most of their business comes from the "I just got my license and daddy bought me an M3, and its not fast enough" crowd.
If only I was in that crowd.

Seth

oh gee-
my advice to you 89Sentra- shake it off!;-)
If you friend wants to be daddy's little princess, let him!

When I see people with better cars I think to myself- when I'm done fixing up my car(or when i get a 240SX and fix it up) it will look better and so on.

and it will be more sattisfying when you see the end result.

Re: Lifes not fair...

Stick in there, life is never fair. I'm sure your friend is thinking life is not fair either when his friend's parents got them a Z06 or 2003 Cobra. Heck you live in New York, the people in New York City adores you for having a car period .

Life isn't fair at all.. but if some rich fuck just upped out of nowhere and gave me this engine for being the person that i am... I wouldn't complain one friggin bit.

Sure, I have a DET of my own to play with.. but damn, the engine pictured above looks fuckin sweet! Especially since it is built by JUN.

Hey to stick up the the people who "mom and dad" bought the car for. My parents bought my car...but I have to pay it back. 10g's. I'm doing that AND building the car at the same time. So far i've sanded everything down and my car is getting primered. I'm having a friend help me shave the handles and side moldings as I don't know how to weld. Yet.

And i'm working right now for my wheels and tires, CF hood, exhaust, and my drop. So NER!

well then it doesn't count- think of it as more of a loan on good terms.
