Would anyone do this in an STi?

I searched to see if this had been posted so bite me if it had some obscure name...

STi in a dirt lot

......i was waiting for something to happen.........like maybe fall into a hole, jump something really big, or get run over by BillyBoy in his lifted F150.........

.......since the STi is pretty much an out-of-the-box rally car, i dont think some rocks n dirt will hurt it much

I was refering to the fact that someone is taking their less than a year old $35k vehicle into an old rock quarry and beating the shit out of the underbody and paint.

Kinda like driving a high priced SUV into the woods on a camping trip, but still....

Why buy a car if you're not going to use it like you're supposed to?

Just like these people who buy pickup trucks and baby them to death... bedliners and crap...
It's a work vehicle for God's sake! And don't get me started on SUVs, I'll bet 90% of the ones built with off-roading in mind haven't even so much as seen dirt.

when i had an outback i did all kinds of crazy shit with it. that's waht it like to do. it takes some balls to thrash on a new car that you don't own, but the insurance will pay off the loan probably, so... I guess have fun.

My friend takes his wrx up when he goes dirt biking in the woods. When he gets bored, he goes to rally his car through some shit. I high five him every time he does it. Using the car for what its supposed to be used for

Why buy it, if your only going to use 1/2 its capabilities?

Hey, at least they're using it for what it's made for.

But if I had an STi, it'd get babied. The Loyale is the mud machine.

i never got any stone chips on mine from driving in dirt, unless you are driving behind another rally car.

what gets stone chips in the paint is driving on the highway.

I dunno about doing that with an STi, but when the WRXs came out, some guy up here took his shiny new one in an rally-x. He rolled it, bashing up every body panel but the trunk, but it wound up back on the wheels, so he refired it and continued. He only lost 6 seconds on the run.

If it was me in my shiny new WRX, I'd still be sitting there crying.

i've taken 2 hits from 2"x4"x2" pieces of metal bouncing down the highway here in losangeles.

and all the construction vehicles dropping rocks really screw the paint and windshield up.

the first time it blew out the turn signal in my front bumper and flew back over to the other side of the freeway, and the other time with my sentra i took a hit on the passenger side 1/4" above the marker light and it put a nice dent in sheet metal.

That Sucks...

See what we have to put up with here in LA? heh
Too many cars on the road... Makes it REALLY hard to drift without freaking other drivers out... lol
There's soooooo many WRX's in this town though, and not enough dirt to spin out on
