I think it would be sad if ANYONE actually paid that kind of money just to raise the number of post they had. I thought post were supposed to show seniority and experience, not pocketbooks. Of course with posts in OT counting I guess thats all shot too.
I like that $1 dollar contribution, hell, I'd donate $10-15 for nothing at all. But it's just that hard and somewhat illegal to send dollars out of this friggin' country I call home.

That would never work. You can automatically exclude about 75% of the members because they haven't even visited the site in more than a month. Of the remaining, probably only a small number would actually donate $1. If it were required there would be no end to the bitching and crying.
Now this is not directed to you personally Slayer, but to everyone who complained about the cost:
Instead of complaining about the price, consider that it's primarily intended as a way to raise a little extra to help offset operating costs and provide something in return. Plus you get much more than just the larger avatar for what is essentially only $2.33 per month.
But to put it bluntly: I'm not going to defend the premium accounts. No one is required to purchase one.
The idea is that normal posting would be free. If you are after 2,304,240,578 posts (and you know who you are), you would make NF.com would be the bestest website in the world.
