Police say a South Korean man died after playing computer games for 86 hours.
A South Korean man died yesterday after playing computer games at an Internet cafe for 86 hours nonstop, reports the Associated Press.
Korean police say the 24-year-old man, known only as Kim, had been glued to the computer since Friday. He collapsed at the monitor yesterday morning after playing games for days without sleep or proper food. Kim had regained consciousness but was found dead in the cafe toilet a short time later.
Police have ruled out murder, although an autopsy has yet to take place.
It's not the first time obsessive gaming has led to deaths in Asia. Earlier this year a Korean teenager shot his schoolfriend in the face with a homemade shotgun after she beat him at a fighting game, while a 17-year-old from Hong Kong suffered heart failure after playing Diablo II instead of sleeping for weeks. In Thailand, Police believed a young girl committed suicide after getting stuck on a level of Bomberman.
Ok doing something to urself b/c u cant beat a game is sad...but shooting ur g/f in the head with a shotgun cause she beat u!?!?! That had to be a fucked up sight for her...she beats him, turns her head to laugh and give him a kiss...*BOOM*
Haha, My cousin (who lives with us) is a hardcore gamer... he is on whenever he can be. He too has been playing Diablo II in excessive amounts... Get's on my nerves cause no one else can get on the computer, but hey... maybe it wont be too long till we can have as much time on the comp.
**I'm joking, of course... I wish no harm to my cousin. just making an observation... he still eats, sleeps, and holds a job.
it wasnt the game that killed him, it was probably the lack of food, water, and sleep. Its not like the game told him to not eat or sleep. I'm surprised he even went to the bathroom and didnt have one of those gamer personal urinals.
