Slain Run DMC star Jam Master Jay is to have a New York street named after him.

The Hip Hop Summit Youth Council has launched a petition to change 203rd Street in Hollis, Queens, to Jam Master Jay Street, in honor of the late DJ. Jam Master Jay grew up on 203rd Street, and his family still lives there.

The Council has been facing some difficulty because community officials will not be able to act before September due to a summer recess. Some Council members criticized officials for not reviewing the petition in a timely manner. They hope the city leaders approve the new name by the first anniversary of Jam Master Jay's death on Oct. 30.

Jam Master Jay, real name Jason Mizell, was gunned down in his Jamaica, Queens, recording studio by an unidentified assailant, and a police investigation of the case is ongoing.

I don't know why any rappers have "beefs" with anyone at all. What worries do they have now? They can all afford to move their families out of the slums they grew up in and now live a good life. That's one of the reasons rap music turns me off so much, the whole tough guy image is so old. Run DMC is one of the few "rap" groups that I like, they worked for their fame unlike all these rappers who are famous before they record their first album.

I think that thats a good thing that they are doing with the street name. JMJ did a lot for that community.

Ja Rules beef with 50 Cent has been going on for a while now. I think it has been going on before 50 got famous. And the only reason Eminem is in it is because, 50 is part of his record label.

Did anyone see the interview with Ja Rule last night?
