wat is your driving style?

i noticed 2 types of driving styles. 1 style is when a person accelerates at a red light, reving the car to 3000-4000 rpm, and the 2nd style is when a person slowly gases the car. my question is, does it hurt your car when u are driving an automatic and you hear the engine roaring as you try to accelerate faster? average rpm around 3000-4000? i try to take care of my car so i slowly accelerate but recently it became really annoying because i see all the cars passing me.

I dont think 3-4 grand RMPS is really "bad" for the car...ultimately if u shift at 2 then ur car will live longer but the difference is so insignificant that I dont think it really matters. 3-4 is usually close to where the power is...once you get up to like 6 or redline thats when its not really "good" for the car...So if u shift at 3 or 4K then its fine...cars are made to accelerate...well most haha...but yea, use it.

i rarely shift before 4500, then it's mostly shift at 5k, and that's "normal" everyday driving for me.

i'm with Azkicker..... I usually shift somewhere between 4500 & 5500. Depending on what gear (and my mood) I may go all the way to redline .

Since mine is an A/T, when I still had the 1.6, I'd stick the pedal to the floor all the time... (still would only be accelerating modestly)... with the 2.0, I find that (paradoxically) I'm okay with punching it to 2k to 3k RPMs only... kicking it above 4k periodically isn't going to hurt then engine... as long as your oil changes are consistent.

Just don't cook your clutch. (If you've got an M/T)... or drag it...

I usually shift around 3000-3500, that seems comfortable for me. If I need to get in front of someone (purposely or not) then I'll take it to 5K or 6K.

I would imagine that hammering on your gas pedal in stop and go traffic (i.e. from stop light to stop light) would lessen the life of the engine. Not that the engine couldnt' take it, but I think it's entirely up to the person.

I hit 6k four or five times a night on the auto, but I very very (read ALMOST NEVER) rarely take it to 7k... I'm a good daddy...

my truck has a pretty slow take off if i don't put the pedal to the floor. So i'm revving it up there ALL the time, (plus, i like speed, so i try to do whatever i can to make my truck (it's a 4 cylender) go faster)

I drive my Sentra just like the bitch that it is. I'm not much nicer to my Altima, either. Probably explains why I'm not allowed to drive my girls 350 by myself.

what sucks about sentras is that the automatics dont have freaking rpm gauge, so i gotta guess hear the engine.

It's the level of Sentra you have that decides if you have a tach or not. I don't have one and mine is a manual trans. GXE
