6 years ago I insured a 79 Nova that I paid 500 bucks for, the car died a month later and I cancelled the insurance. 3 months ago I get a letter from an attorney saying I owe 1300 dollors to this insurance company. 900 for remainder of policy and 400 in lawyer fees. Of course I'm like what the fuck and I call the lawyer, and he explains to me because I was assigned risk I am liable for the full six mont term of insurance. It is like a loan when they insure you with such a bad record as I had. So I'm like OK I'll send you payment. He says no he has to dig up the paper work and he will mail me everything. So I get these documents 2 weeks ago. I haven't called the lawyer yet though. So I send my girlfreind to the bank for me today and she calls me up and tells me my savings account and checking are frozen. Those fucks froze my accounts. There was no warning, a lapse of two weeks went by sinse I even got the paperwork. This bullshit.

On what grounds do they have the right to freeze your assets? That is such bullshit! Call up that fuck and tell him to unfreeze your accounts. They also have to notify you (in writing) that they are freezing your assets and for the specific reasons, If I am not mistaken...time to get yourself a lawyer, Hal.

Yeah I got shit straightend out already, the lawyers faxed me a release form stating to withdraw and send the 1300 to them from my accounts, I took that to the bank and shit is in the works to unfreeze my shit, they said about 1 day. Plus then the bank took a hundred for themselves out of my savings for lawyer fees for there legel department for processing this shit.

Yeah I talked to them about that shit already, The bank freezes your accounts then sends out the Court order of restraint. They froze them yesturday so i should get all the paperwork in a few days.

What they did with no notice, is Illegal. NY may have different laws, but effectively if they manhandle your private property without your consent, knowledge or authorization you can sue them for damages.

The high risk shit goes on here in FL too, we call it SR22.It is required to get your license back after you have been in an accident with no insurance.It is an expensive policy that must be paid in full before you can drive.I imagine NY is much worse since it is a state that is run by lawyers, not the citizens of the state. ( I used to live there).Insurance is crazy everywhere now.I pay $1900 a year for 10/20/10 and no comp /coll. on my 2 Nissan's. The same insurance would have been $1k 2-3 yrs ago.
