being sued is the worst....i got into a car accident 3 years ago with no insurance, i didnt even get a ticket for anything cuz the guy hit me! and now his insurance is suing me for 8grand worth of damages to his car....lame....so now ive been trying to find a lawyer and go to court for all this bullshit....at least i learned my lesson....DONT DRIVE WITHOUT INSURANCE!!! seriously this is the worst....anyway just had to get that off my chest....if any of you know what i can do to try and get out of it im open to all suggestions

hey.... i know how you feel. i was accused of hitting someone at my school. i had police charges of hit and run and vehicular assault. the police dropped the charges because there was no proof. we have cameras all over the school and where it happened showed absolutely nothing happening. but the guy that i supposedly hit, his mom said that i broke his knee and hurt his hand. i go to a school with 3000 other students, and it just happens that right after school got out that no one saw this... so obviously it never happened. but of course this lady got a lawyer and is trying to take me to court. but my insurance company says if anything happens that they will settle out of court. which means my insurance rates will be going sky high. i pay 100 a month right now... who knows how much it will be now... grr.. so i feel your pain

i thought so but i think cuz they sent me a letter like a year and a half ago telling me that i need to pay it and i just ignored it....so i think that was there way of sayin look we tried to get him to pay and he didnt...but like im just going to say here let me give you 8 thousand dollars for an accident that wasnt my fault....o well i guess ill find out on the 28th if i go to jail or not haha cuz there is no way in hell im paying for that
yeah i got the report but it does say whos fault it was cuz technically it was both of us at fault thats why there was no tickets issued....i was turning left on a yellow but the guy coming towards me was stopping or so i though so i proceded to turn then he slammed on the gas (at this point i was completely out of the intersection onto the street i was turning onto) and he hit me...so we were both told that we should have yeilded blah blah blah...but i have some witnesses to prove that i was out of the intersection when he hit me so hopefully i can get it dropped
That happened to me. I didnt have insurance and he hit me. Regardless, it's their fault if they hit you. I still made his insurance company (AAA) pay for the ride, medical, and lost wages. The only thing they would not cover was pain and suffering, which I was fine with. I would definitely check your local and state laws and at least seek counsel. Good luck!
thanks man...yeah im trying to get a lawyer right now just cuz i have to write up some document telling the courts why im contesting the law suit...and how the hell did you get them to pay if you didnt have insurance haha man thats crazy...the thing that sucks though is in illinois you have to drive with insurance or its illegal...luckily i had an old insurance card thats how i got away with it =)

Thats what I did for a while too... and got away with it. Used it in court during traffic tickets to show I had insurance. But at the time of my accident I didnt have squat and it's illegal here in Cali too. I just took a step back and looked at the situation, and logically if he hit you then it's their fault. You didnt hit him right? No, then they are at fault. What insurance company is after you?
ummm general security ? yeah im going to work my ass off to try and get the charges dropped....if i have to pay 8 grand all my car and tattoo plans get put on hold =( haha i like how my priorities are straight lol....but yeah hopefully i can get it dropped

The way it looks to me is that they are a small insurance co. that doesnt want to give out 8 grand like that. For me AAA didnt have a problem paying off my car and all that bullsh!t. Hopefully if you do get a lawyer and/or make it clear that the accident was at no fault to you, they wont want to spend the time or money to take it to court. But yeah man, take it as a lesson learned. I know I did and now I have insurance.

no im being sued for 8 grand...they want me to pay 8 thousand haha not vice versa....anyway ive already been to court once and i go again on the 28th so ive been calling lawyer like crazy but the assholes never get back to me....im going to try and fight it on my own and hope that the judge will have simpathy on the little guy ya know
Well, still they dont want to pay the $8000 to fix their client's car or at least they want their money back. What happened at your first court appearance? Obviously you werent charged with not having insurance. If you are going to rep. yourself make sure to bring everything that is relevant to your case, especially showing that you were not at fault. Statements from the witnesses stating you werent at fault and pictures of the intersection to prove where you were would be a good thing too.
yeah thats what i was going to do i was going to make a "mock" accident to show where the cars were at etc...and when i went to court the first time it was just to ask me if i understood the nature of the lawsuit and why i was being sued etc....so now i need to know whats going to happen when i go back so im calling mad lawyers today for free legal advice haha FREE haha is the key word
Go for it. Most do adverstise for free advice. Looks like you have things under control on your side for the most part. Its up to the courts now... Some good advice when speaking to the judge: Address him or her by "Your honor", they like that.
