Super2nr TV

Did you guys see it today? I only saw the last 9 minutes, but they had Team Honda Racing against Team Nissan, and Honda won the course by 1.3 seconds. Nissan had a couple b13's and even a b14 in the TEAL COLOR (no white ). Mike Kojima won most valuable person or something to that extent. The 1st place was supposed to get tires and rims for $10,000, but since it was such a close outcome, the 1st place got the tires and second place got the rims (or other way around, cant really remember that either)

I just felt that I had to say this to the board.

Yeah I saw that did you see the B15 it was killing in horsepower but had some issues with manuverablity in the turns where one the Honda's would catch up and even pass him but got lost on the straight it was pretty tight I missed the first five minutes of the show. It was a pretty close race I want to do something like that it needs to happen again.

It appeared that our guys had more straight line experiance and the honda boys were better autocross drivers.

I just saw the rerun of the rerun of the rerun today. that was a great show (except for the fact that the Honda guys were kinda cocky when they won). The beam suspension of the Nissans are less effective than the independent suspension Honda's have... as far as the racetrack goes. Put them in an autocross course and the beam suspension probably promotes car rotation better than the multi-link or double wishbone type. by the way, Dave Coleman's SCC CRX is supposed to be a cornering machine! The B15 "Disco Potato" does have some balls - of course, turbo SR20s always do lol.

Does the NX2000 have independent rear suspension like the classics? That one spun around like it had 400lb springs or a tight anti-roll bar in back!

At least it put Nissans and their abilities in the spotlight! Can't wait for a rematch.

Dave Coleman doesnt have a CRX. The amount of disinformation that gets spread around on the net is amazing. Hondas kick nissans ass in Autocross even worse.

morepower, Dave had been talking trash in one of the Sport Compact Car issues and challenged some reader to a race in an SCC CRX, insinuating that the handling of the car more than made up for the power. He was being interviewed on the Super2ner show in front of a CRX. It may not have been "HIS" per se, but it's safe to assume it MAY be the same CRX he was writing about in the issue.

And yes, I'm well aware that in his magazine column he has a picture of himself posing in front of a Type R. Don't hate.

I say give companines 2 to 3 years to really figure out how to make the beam axle handle or come out with a way to convert it to independent/wishbone. but they made it seem like a nissan was a muscle car and a honda was audi TT. but it does suck that some of the nissans had twice the power but still lost. but damn mikes SE-R with the sequential tranny was sick. damn i wish i had the money to do that.

Just curious if the B13 independent rear is superior to the B14/15 beam axle for handling.I realize that handling is Honda's forte, but I do not think it is that much better than a Nissan!I just don't undertand why the Honda's seemed to be so much better than the Nissan's in the corners. The other thing I found funny was that the Honda's in the show were all pretty weak in the horsepower department while they supposedly are capable of making good power.I think the top Honda wasn't even making 300 hp-if I remember correctly, while there were several Nissan SR20's with around 350hp.

yea, the Nissans had 2X as much HP as th hondas, but those hondas really could take the corners. I think the main reason for the Hondas being so good at cornering is they prolly had more experience at track and autoX. Many of those hondas were custom built auto sport machines while the Nissans were mostly daily drivers with a ton or HP.

I think if we had a bit more experience we woulda beat them. Mike Kojima wiping out and the NX spinning was what killed us. Still, there's no excuse for us having worse suspension than hondas. As far as I know, the B13 has a much better suspension than a civic. Even though the B13 is old, that baby was built well from the ground up. The B13 shoulda been able to out maneuver the civic. Same goes for the NX, the NX is a very sporty car and very good at this kind of course.

The b14 and b15 shoulda had a better edge, A guy on this forum and SR20DEforum (98SR20VE) has a technique to bend the rear axle an give us a better toe. This technique makes the car handle more like a classic and it is something that woulda helped us against the hondas. This process is only $100 from this guy and these guys shoulda done this being that they have this much in their suspension

Yup, and quite a bit of sponsor stickers on those Hondas (unless their owners just WANT to put huge graphics on their cars - doubt it). The Nissans, for the most part, looked like nice clean sleepers. Like they should be

Mike Kojima is well aware of the beam-bending mod, I wonder if he had suggested it to the B14/15 guys for the tracks. From what I understand, a slight amount of toe-in is good for the tracks, but I'm sure the stock amount would have hurt them a little tho.

I developed the beam bending mod with Darin Nishimura of Westend alignment.

Uh, morepower2, call me ignorant but are you saying that you are Mike Kojima? If so, I bow down and humbly accept my slap upside the head.

Although I don't make statements on these forums without some reasoning and evidence to back them up, I admit I am sometimes wrong (even though I throw in little disclaimers, like "probably" or "I suppose so," etc.). But, if anyone would catch a wrong statement concerning stuff on this forum, I suppose it would be Mike K.

And who am I to argue with Mike... OWW damnit! I meant only ONE slap upside the head!

Peace all.
