Ok,
What's up with all the extremist islam avatars that are going on.
(thats about the most PC way I can put it).
We have Ayatolla Khakamaymee, Osama himself, and the rest.
Whats next? Hizbullah?
How about Jesus, or the Messiah?
Next will be the pharohs of egypt.
But those are historical/biblical. The current ones are more up to date. So we need the Pope. Some cardinals. Howabout a rabbi or to. There's always the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Maybe the Dalai Lama?
Seth
P.S. In an ideal word, Avatars would be our actual faces.
I'm pretty sure samo has the bin Laden avatar to make a point against that man's actions. Though I could be wrong... let's not speculate until we hear from the source.

I have the Osama avatar as a political statement against post-9-11-bandwagon-patriotism, fundamentalist Christianity, and intense right-wing politics. I do not condone the man's actions, nor do I condone the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. However, I also don't condone the militarialistic pseudo-police-state that Bush and Ashcroft have turned the United States into.
EDIT: Seth, you mentioned the Dali Lama. As much as I would like to be able to equate myself with that man through my avatar, it would do him and his message much injustice to see his face alongside my posts.
Honestly, the gambling thing doesn't bother me much as long as it's on the level. I don't think gambling is a very good idea, nor is it a very responsible way to spend money, but as long as he's totally legal about it, I can't judge. Plus, there's plenty of democrats and green-party members that visit Vegas, I'm sure.
Boycott Home Depot is partially serious, partially a joke. A few weeks ago, a group of import inthusiasts gathered in Issaquah, across Lake Washington from where I live. We gathered in a Home Depot parking lot that was joined with other businesses - a grocery store, Krispy Kreme, Fatburger, etc. Within a few hours, the manager at Home Depot had called the police. An officer arrived and told us all to leave, despite the fact that we were supporting businesses. Fatburger and Krispy Kreme were jam-packed with people. Not only did we have to leave, but the officer called for staters to be along I-90, the only efficient way across the lake. Depsite the fact that there was still tons of parking close to Home Depot, despite the fact that almost all of us had purchased something from one or more of the stores in that lot, and despite the fact that there have been meets in that lot almost once a month, if not more, we had to leave because some middle-aged Home Depot manager decided to 'prove something' to us. Oh well.
Hmm,
THis was supposed to be a thread that made people smile, and maybe start putting religious figures (or evil dictators) in their avatar. Not a political forum.
Okay then... I was going to change my avatar to one of these, but after I resized them you couldn't tell what they were... So I'll just post them to express my faith...
By the way, those are both of the God Cernunnos.

You gotta respect Sam's willingness to express his views... shows a lot of guts.
story: I was shopping the other day, looking at DVDs. Next to me was a couple. They picked up a movie and read the back.... litterally threw it down and said some crap like "I'd never watch that, that Martin Sheen terrorist supporter is in it"
My first thoughts were... what a bunch of hipocrite rednecks... The man speaks his feeling... An american right ..i.e... Free Speech... and is ridiculed by people that couldn't win Jay Leno's Walk of Fame All Stars... it amazes me how uninformed and ignorant some people are... especially when they wave the flag yet don't understand or respect the rights that it stands for.
