This weekend, several months of hard studying will be put to the test. I am going down to Columbus for the SkillsUSA/Vica State Competitions. I will be competing in Industrial Motor Controls. Man, I screwed up at Regionals and got 3rd instead of 1st. (stupid neutral jumper) It's going to be hard, and long. Unfortunatly, I compete on Saturday, so Friday all of us who aren't competing will go shopping. Oh joy, I can barely make my insurance payment Friday night, we have a dance. Aw hell, why me? I wish I could just stay in the hotel room. Majority of these people act too damn immature, plus i'm more of a laid back person who loves to chill, work on cars, and race. Gotta get me pretty smuckered to start dancing(and I can't promise my clothes will stay on ) I'll get back Saturday at 5:30pm. Enough time to get a nap beofre I go out cruising with my buddies. Man I hope I don't fuck up again. Got my trusty highlighter this time to make sure I mark off what wires I have already ran.

Well, they gave me a 35 question test, whcih I did exceptionally well on. Then I was given a ladder diagram (motor control's wiring diagram) and had to build the circuit. I did great on that, worked first time and all (mine always work the first time). I was then given a word problem which I had to design the ladder diagram for it. That I did flawlessly. Unfortunately, troubleshooting came last. No dice. It was something I had never come across before. I couldn't find the fault at all (given 5 minutes) That cost me, really big time. I ended up not placing at all, but somewhere in the top 5. I was the only highschool competetor for that, everyone else was from CTC or JVC schools where everyting is strickly on the topic they choose. My class has been based solely on typical commercial and industrial installs, not motor controls. Well, can say I tried, but I am still highly disappointed.

Well, because of going to state comp and applying for a scholarship, I will be most likely getting a free ride through 4 years of college. Man i'm stoked!!!! It's the Tech-Prep scholarship with our local technical college (North Central State College) and I was the only one to apply for it from my school. Since I am Tech-Prep vocational, I have already accumulated almost 2 years of college credit, so I would only have to go 3 years to have a 4 year degree.
