'Motor City' a Deadly Place for Pedestrians
(Reuters) - The industry that made Detroit famous has made its streets especially deadly for pedestrians, federal safety regulators said on Tuesday. Among U.S. cities with a population of more than 500,000, based on yearly averages from 1998 to 2000, Detroit, also known as the "Motor City," had the highest annual pedestrian fatality rate with 5.05 deaths per 100,000 people, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said
