Question Are Hood Pins Necessary for CF hood??

A friend of mine has a 97 mirage LS coupe and he is soon getting a Carbon Fiber hood. We are not agreeing on something he wants to put on hoodpins cause he says they are necessary casue the latch its'nt enough for carbon fiber and it will blow off
he calims he has heard this from 2 people. I have never heard of this.

So do u need hood pins for a CF hood?

it depends on the quality of the hood and the latch.

Pins look awsome, but if the hood is high enough quality they shouldn't be necissary.

Just remember you get what you pay for.

When a grisly killing spree in Vancouver left 15 women dead, PETA tried to purchase full-page ads in local papers suggesting that this carnage was no worse than the killing of animals for food.

i've heard that too. besides, the only reason you should ever have hood pins on your car is if you have a cf hood.

Not true. You want pins on any car you are gonna race. If there is an accident and the engine catches on fire, it is easier to open pins then a broken latch.

And,
At higher speeds a dent or fender bender is likely to cause your hood to fly up i your face form the faster wind.

Seth

P.S. Why would you want to drill holes in the carbon fibre, isnt that a bad thing to do for structural integrity?
