anyone try the sharper image air purifiers?

anyone have the sharper image air purifiers? the ones where they have those charged filter plates that you can just remove and wipe off ... will clean the air of dust particles, dander, pollen, etc.

I'm thinkin about gettin one ... just for my room at least. I guess my body has gotten used to it, but there's alot of dust, cat dander and pollen possibly in my room! I have a long-hair cat and it's about shedding season ... the ceiling in my room is sorta old-school and foam-ish so it probably causes dusting, and allergy season about to begin too ...

want to know if this stuff really works and worth the $130.

Thanks! - nadir

# Electrostatic air cleaner for average-size rooms of about 350 square feet.
# Silent operation. Patented Zenion Effect technology moves air electronically — with no motor, no fan and no noise at all.
# No filters to replace. Charged airborne particles are trapped on oppositely charged stainless steel collectors that slide out for easy cleaning.
# Saves money. Low energy costs and no replacement filters saves $100s compared to HEPA filters. Requires no more than 10 watts to power all functions at their highest settings.
# Negligible ozone. Exclusive OzoneGuard™ in the front grill converts virtually all by-product ozone to harmless oxygen as clean air circulates back into the room. Ozone accumulation is far below the U.S. safety requirements for air cleaners and medical devices.
# Full 5-year warranty.

I have 2 of those Ionic Breeze things in my house. They rid my house of smoke and the smell of mouse that is in my basement. The smell is nowhere near as bad as it was before I put that quadra down there a week ago. I haven't noticed how well it works with small particles and pet dander though. I have only noticed the lack of odor and smoke.

It smells like mouse because I have close to 60 of them down there. I have that many because I breed them. I have 2 - 10 gallon cages, one for males and one for females both with 12 mice. I have 4 other cages that have baby mice in them; 7, 7, 12, and 14 plus a mom for each. I have one more cage that holds 6 black mice, 2 male 4 female that I am breeding to get more black mice.

Holy crap! Do you breed them for snake feed?

You should start a thread with pics. That's nuts.

I breed mice just for the fun of it. Its something to do. Its interesting to see what kinds of colors I get; black, brown, gray, orange, white, off-white, and various mixed colors. My dad won't let me breed ferrets

very cool....you're like a genologist figuring out what genes are recessive and dominant.

The only gene I have found to be donminant is black eyes. Red eyes and a gray coat are recessive. Thats all I have found out so far.

What doesn't cause cancer these days?

They do produce a slight amount of O-zone. Enough to be up to 90 parts per billion, or a level 2 ozone alert that hasn't been seen in years. Enough to cause breathing problems. This o-zone accumulation only occurs in poorly ventilated spaces. So as long as you have some other kind of air flow in the room, it shouldn't be a problem
