i had an assignment exactly like this one, and used almost those same things, and i had the highest grade on the paper in the class, its not about the items its about the arguement u provide to back up the items
since you can make the pole with a knife cut down a tree to make shelter with an ax. and figure out how to make fire now before you get stranded.

Well if there's no fresh water there you'll need a tarp/plastic bag to collect dew, matches, and a knife. If there's fresh water you could probably get away with taking some porn.

Yea I definently agree, survivial knife is the best thing you can bring, it will be able to make your finishing pole too, or at least a spear to catch fishys! Yum... I don't know about the knife sharpener though... sounds good but you only get three choices so I would say my other two would be have to be some sort of cable, made out of metal, because you can always make rope out of woodlen things, and my third choice... mmmm... so hard... uhhh... god... damn... I don't know... when I come up with it I'll post it
