Just HANG him already!!!

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein shouted Tuesday that he will not return "to an unjust court" when it convenes for a fifth session the following day. As the end of the session, when the judges decided to resume the trial Wednesday, Saddam suddenly shouted: "I will not return. I will not come to an unjust court! Go to hell!"

Ok... would you argue then that it IS "just" to invade a country for no reason, make a deplorable shithole out of a once-successful nation, and put it's leader on trial for crimes that there is no evidence he committed? All in the name of oil? I can't say I'd do any differently than what he's doing.

I honestly don't think that anyone put in his position would do anything differently.

What exactly is a 'just' court then?
What about an 'illegal' country?
What is a 'just' or 'illegal' war?

These are soundbytes with no actual meaning. They're designed to get you all riled even though they, substantively, are nothing.

he wants just? what would he prefer, a jury of iraqi's?

Seth

Well personally, although I may get flamed, I think he is right, and honestly I don't know if there is a court in this world that would be 'just' in his case. By now everyone is biased in some sort of way, probably bad, but the court he's in right now I would agree probably is unjust. For those of you who say he tortured and killed people, well its not like this country doesn't torture, and maybe even kill, people, its just not so bluntly and never talked about. Of course we do it for national security and to ensure safety, do you think that justifies it or makes it right. Oh were America so that gives us the right to do whatever we want? Yea he has done horrible things but look at Bush, look at all our dead soldiers, thats something that does not lie, and for what... I just wonder why he isn't on trial.

All in the name of oil...Please, don't come in here with another dense Michael Moore argument again.

Tell me, what does the US have to gain from liberating Iraq as far as oil is concerned?...Iraq is still a member of OPEC so they still fall under the same guidelines as all other members. Iraq is just allowed to sell more than it did under the UN sanctions.

I didn't mention Michael Moore at all. Well, I have in the past mentioned him as an "entertainer". To write off a substantial argument simply because a liberal filmmaker agrees with it is called "ignorance".

... Halliburton, Shell, ConocoPhillips, ... Iraq sits on huge oil reserves. Prior to the invasion the oil industry in Iraq was minimal and publicly funded. Now looks who's there. Don't think for a minute that just because the oil is in a different country that the US has nothing to gain from it.

Did people walk in fear in Iraq during his govt? Yes.
Did they have a secret police and societies which watched and made people dissappear yes.

Do we have this in the states? No.

Can't compare the two contries.
