I mean, how do they expect people to live with all the advancement coming out.
You want a cell phone $50
You want e-mail to your cell phone and internet access without paying for kb usave another $50 on top of that
You need to buy your phone.
You want to rent a movie $3
you want a PPV $3
you want to download content on your PC $10
you want to download music $.99
you want to download shows and clips $1.99
you want a ringtone $3
you want to text message $.10 each time
you want a dvd $15
you want internet access $50
you want long distance? get a cell phone.
you want voip? you better have a reliable internet connection.
otherwise you need copper and that's $30
you need electricity so that's $75
you want to wash clothes that's $1
you buy a washer it's still $1 for the power and water
you want to take the bus? $2
you want to drive a car instead you need to pay for gas $30
and parking $10
and insurance $100
and tolls $2
and the car itself
and you want to get a radio you buy cd's $15
or you get XM or sirius $9
then the cost of the unit $200
want to watch tv you need an antenna $100
don't want to install it get cable $60
want better service get satellite $50
want on demand $3
want tivo $5
want a second room $10
want to tivo a show you missed $3
need medicine $8
need health insurance $70
actually use it need a copayment $30
even if you live in a box to buy a book is $6
I make $846 every 2 weeks after tax and insurance.
That gives me around $1692 to pay for mortgage and the above. I'm left with $350 more or less to pay for non technology purchases say a sweater or movie tickets. In order to stay afloat you can basically do nothing that all the 'feature full' devices can do. Otherwise you pay for the use and the right to use it.
It's death by a thousand cuts and it's only getting worse. Soon you'll have to pay for every conceivable thing. Nothing will be 'included' anymore.
Seth
P.S. ATM's are my favorite which is why I never use them. They cost $2.50 to get the money. Then your branch charges you $2.50 for using an ATM. They charge you $2.50 even if the ATM won't give you the cash.
P.S.S. Whenever you buy something or get a contract (internet, phone) make damn sure it's what you want because if you try to return it or change or are dissatisfied they will charge you for that as well.
you need to trim your shit back, you're getting assraped be teh extras. Life isn't about the frills and luxuries
edit btw: tivo can suck my balls. i have DVR w/100hrs of recording space AND a dvd writer...and i dont have to pay $13 a month for a subscription...what kind of moron would get a tivo?

-Internet for your cell phone...why would you 'definitely' need that. According to how much you get paid it doesn't sound like you have any important 'business' to take care of when you aren't at work/home.

Hell yeah life is about the frills and luxuries!!! Why have OEM wheels when you can get aftermarket stuff? Super-size all of your meals. You don't want that 32" plasma TV, you need that 52" plasma TV. Hanging with your buddies is fun, hanging with your buddies at the gentlemen's club is great. Being a member of NF is good, being a contributor is the fucking bomb.

Did you contemplate the price of food going into that calculation?
I am on a limited budget right now (I have 135 to my name and thats not changing for at least 3 weeks), I have given up on everything but my basic bills (phone, internet and basic cable), my cell (lowest plan possible), food and gas.
Figure out your priorities and stop your bitching. you can save like 200 or more if you cut out the bull shit like xm and internet for your phone and tivo.

Frills? WTF is that...... Frills is like using premium unleaded when the engine can run just fine on regular. Frills are a big waste of money, and unless you have some chick to impress, it's not worth it. It's not worth it anyway.....

My frill cost:
Internet/full cable/phone-- free, my fiance works for TW cable.
Most furniture in my house-- free, was a furniture mover, stuff given away to me by my clients. That included a mint 56" HDTV, mint washer/dryer, saltwater reef tank with all the fixin's, white suede sofa set, huge computer work desk + chair (corporate, going out of business), 2 low grade computers, and a snake terrarium.
Art in my house-- free, my fiance used to work for Art.com.
Movies, music, software-- free, I have friend who pulls stuff off usenet and ftp's it to me. He claims he can get anything and so far, I haven't been disappointed.
Cell phone-- don't have one now (annoying things), but the previous job I had issued me one ...for free.
Laptop, xbox, dvd player, vcr-- free, gifts over the years.
Suits-- free, I got ordained online as a minister and marry people for the cost of a suit (~$350 each)
Last three cars, not including my 200sx-- free, friends and family giving me old beaters that I fixed up enough to run.
Eating out-- usually free, depending on where I go. Friends in dining hook me up in exchange for free computer repairs/brake jobs/oil changes, etc...
Going to clubs/bars/shows-- you guessed it, FREE. Networking with friends who are bartenders, DJs or sound guys helps. I also used to write for a magazine in the midwest called Massive that covered electronic music, we got press-passed to everything.
Tattoos-- free. My fiance hooked our tat artist up with her hot ass friend, so now he does our work for free (he offered!)
My college classes/books-- free, I have a full ride thanx to my GPA getting me scholarships and grants.
What do I pay for? My home computer, built it over a year a little at a time. Parts for my car. Insurance is $360 a year. Gas and cigarettes. Munchies in the cupboard and the intoxicants that make me want them. A 2 kilowatt PA system I started piecing together when I was 15. My current car, used, paid in full upon purchase. My bike, for sale or barter.
Just goes to show you that with the right hook ups, you can get by with very little actual ta-ching.

Trim this crap too... XM or sirius $9 text message $.10 each time
